Band: Band 2 £23,615 per annum, pro rata if part-time

We are looking for multiple motivated, organised and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as a Healthcare Assistant. Additionally, we are a friendly team who support and encourage each other, all successful applicants must hold the same values.

Main duties of the job
Ward 17 is a 26-bed acute coronary care ward caring for male and female patients and Ward 16 is a 29-bed respiratory ward and whose patients are female. Our wards contain highly skilled doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants caring for all our patients' holistic needs and promoting independence and rehabilitation. We care for and support patients with chronic heart conditions and deliver care to acutely unwell cardiac patients.
We partner closely with the cardiology department in the Trust, performing pacemaker insertions, diagnostic cardiac angiography and other procedures. We also collaborate with the cardiac teams in our tertiary centres, for our patients requiring transfer.
The role of the HCA is to assist the nursing team in the delivery of safe effective care to the patient.

Job responsibilities
Communicate factual information to patients regarding their condition within your clinical remit. Patients may have barriers to understanding such as a physical or mental disability, including dementia and so information will need to be delivered with tact, empathy, and sensitivity. You may need to use persuasive skills to encourage patients to engage and undertake activities of daily living. To ensure that patients, relatives needs are met in a courteous, helpful, and compassionate manner. To ensure all visitors to the department are dealt with in a courteous and helpful manner. To demonstrate a pro-active approach to maintaining overall tidiness and cleanliness of the ward/department and equipment.
