Job Description Manufacturing Laboratory Technologist Full Time Barnoldswick What you will be doing We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our engaging team in Barnoldswick as a Manufacturing Laboratory Technologist. You will be delivering laboratory activities within a Manufacturing environment and ensure compliance to processes and standards. You will control and develop the special processes required to support manufacture of components as well as ensure the engineering specifications are satisfied for new part introduction and ongoing manufacture. Responsibilities: You will e nsure process compliance to National and International Standards through both the generation of shop floor instructions and the participation in audit procedures. Interpret design and engineering requirements and ensuring shop applications remain in compliance, you will also : Approve process data cards/procedures, process or stage drawings and Methods of Manufacture both for domestically manufactured parts and for parts manufactured in the external supply network. Maintain operator training and qualification requirements for specific Special Processes including identification of changes to specification requirements that require subsequent operator training. Compile component specific Rationalised Quality Specifications (RQSC’s) and Quality Control Test procedures (QCTP’s) for Sensitive and Critical parts. Lead mixed teams to advance specific processes and/or resolve manufacturing problems. Act as a member of a Local Control Authority (LCA) for one of the on site plants and/or the External supply Chain to approve method of manufacture changes on classified parts. Microstructural evaluation and acceptance of test samples from Steel, titanium & Nickel alloy components or test pieces at forging, heat treatment or post machining operations. Drive continuous improvement and control activities to reduce process variation including identifying opportunities for data capture and process centering. Support the selection, justification, acquisition and commissioning of new processing equipment. Why Rolls-Royce? A strategic, forward thinking individual is sought that will embrace challenges and strive to do the right thing for the business. Qualified to degree level in Materials Science, Metallurgy or an appropriate Engineering discipline. Please add or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience. Working towards or have already achieved Chartered Engineer status (UK) or other national equivalent. Good written and verbal communication skills. Data driven approach to problem solving.
