As a busy and leading referral animal hospital we are looking for enthusiastic, motivated cleaner to join the practice to help provide a clean and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Along with the practice team you will carry out a range of cleaning activities in both clinical and non-clinical areas, hygiene areas, staff facilities and offices. The hours for this position will be 21:00 - 05:00 and open to flexibility. Responsibilities Cleaning of clinical and non-clinical areas, hygiene areas, staff facilities and offices by means of vacuuming, mopping, damp dusting, buffing and spray cleaning. Undertake “deep cleans” in the correct PPE in areas where infection is present. Maintain high hospital standards by ensuring all areas are clean, presentable and safe. Handling and disposal of all types of waste, including recyclables and offensive waste. Understand and comply with all practice policies and procedures in connection with infection control; including hand, personal and environmental hygiene and waste disposal. Use equipment in accordance with the role following all Health & Safety guidelines. To correctly use, clean and store all cleaning materials to ensure that the work is carried out in a safe manner and to the required standards. To organise own workload on a daily basis, working within scheduling guidelines to ensure that all required tasks are completed daily. To monitor and replenish stock levels of cleaning materials, waste bags, paper hand towels, toilet tissue, hand soap and sanitisers; ensuring that items do not fall below acceptable levels. To operate required cleaning equipment, including electrical equipment, to achieve specified standards of cleanliness. To clean medical equipment. Report any defects/faults with cleaning equipment and in the fabric of the building through the correct reporting channels. Demonstrate an understanding and ensure compliance with practice health & safety policies. Including COSHH and Manual Handling; ensuring the observance of safe working methods at all times. Carry out any urgent spot cleaning and attend promptly to spillages. Participate in training programmes relevant to efficiency, fire drills, hygiene, the requirements of the health and safety at work regulations and other courses as deemed necessary for the efficient working of the department. Any other duties as deemed appropriate. Ideal Candidate Passionate about high standards of cleanliness. Great attention to detail. Ability to work independently and use initiative. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and visitors. Able to work under pressure, individually and as part of the practice team with a flexible approach to meet the needs of the business. Confident working in a hospital environment and be aware at times you will be working around animals that are unwell. Good verbal and written communication skills. To be reliable and responsible with a flexible approach to work. Previous cleaning experience within a healthcare environment is preferred but not essential.
