Purpose of the Role The Security Operations Co-ordinator will report to the Security Manager to support, coordinate and collaborate with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures within the security department. They are to ensure the safety and security of all security practices and policies are implemented to ensure a safe working environment whilst overseeing the operation across the centre and provide guidance and supervision to the security Staff. They are to ensure that exemplary standards of security and world class customer service are provided to the client, customers, and visitors to Merry Hill centre always. Whilst working in partnership with external clients such as emergency services and building relationships with local police. Key Responsibilities To be fully conversant with all procedures in the event of a fire alarm activation, ensuring that all actions taken comply with policy. To be fully conversant with all procedures in relation to a phased full or partial evacuation including emergency procedures, MIMs plan and crisis management process. To be an expert in “emergency procedures” and ensure relevant people are trained. To be conversant with the operation of the building management systems; to constantly monitor and report all faults to the Technical Services department. To monitor service yards, facilitating access / egress as required including vehicle checks. To constantly monitor all car parks, to initiate the opening and closing of all car parks and log when completed and ensure the area is safe and secure. To be responsible for the correct usage, maintenance, and repair of all security equipment To maintain standards and lead the security team and ensure all HR processes are implemented such as, Return To Work, payroll timesheets, holidays, identifying training needs and potential for development. To initiate disciplinary procedures should the performance of any member of staff fall below the expected standard and ensure that objectives are set for the team. Ensure by example that all members of the shift comply with the company policy of dress, appearance, and hygiene at all times. To always be available to officers to listen to welfare problems and act upon them, taking the appropriate course of action in compliance with standing orders. To ensure the effective monitoring and assessment of security personnel, ensuring that when deficiencies are observed, appropriate action has been instigated. To attend regular meetings with the Security Duty Manager / Security Manager and Team, retail partners or other meetings as required Lead by example to ensure Security Officers are helpful, approachable, and courteous at all times, developing and maintaining good relationships between, retail partners and their employees, members of the public, contractors, emergency services and other visitors to the centre. To keep all business and staff information confidential and adhere to the GDPR guidelines and company policy, and maintain the security of the Centre property, equipment, and information always. To ensure the implementation of corporate policies, toolbox talks and welfare meeting monthly. To maintain safe working practices in line with HASAWA, the Company’s own health & safety policy and all relevant legislation. To ensure all safety fire corridor / escape, pre-opening, medical room / equipment checks are undertaken by staff under your supervision. To be always observant and report suspicious packages/ persons immediately to the Duty Manager. To work additional hours and show flexibility regarding hours worked as necessary. To report regularly and in a format agreed with Management on the operational state of your shift. To liaise with the security team for briefing and to ensure correct staffing levels are available to ensure sufficient cover on the malls. To ensure the delivery of the world class customer service philosophy is achieved within the department and to seek ways of ensuring staff deliver consistently high standards. To implement systems and procedures to ensure standards are continually maintained to the highest specification. To ensure that the level and standard of staffing match the service delivery requirements of the Security Team, and when required to report deficiencies to the Security Duty Manager / Security Manager. To ensure the co-operation of the public and retail partners and to be courteous when dealing with them. Where action is called for staff must be firm in the discharge of their duty without becoming oppressive, aggressive or act otherwise in a manner likely to discredit the Centre. When personnel are observed acting contrary to this direction you will ensure that the appropriate action is taken. To undertake any further duties requested by the Manager, as appropriate to the position. Skills, Knowledge and Experience Essential: • Successful record of accomplishment of working in a Security Control room and previous experience of team management within a security role. • Must be Dual SIA licensed (CCTV / Manned Guarding / Door Supervision) • Professional, smart of appearance and communicates clearly. • Excellent customer service skills. • Excellent communication, verbal and written with attention to detail. Desirable: • First aid qualified or willing to work towards. • IOSH Trained. • Well developed IT skills and computer literate. • Experience of working in a retail environment.
