Our client is one of the UK’s leading companies in the sales and distribution of drinks and beverages equipment to the juice, cider, wine and beer markets. They are looking to recruit an Engineering and Service Manager to develop a customer focused Engineering and Service team that can deliver upon the customer expectations. Drawing upon significant experience gained in a similar industry and familiar with best practice in the food and drinks market, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the capability to lead a successful team, deliver on target, operate at management level and provide engineering-based solutions to field service.
The role:
• Manage the Engineering and Service function including:
o Developing an Engineering and Service strategic plan in-line with the company strategic plan
o Recruit, manage, develop, train and lead department staff
o Manage department budget in-line with targets
o Lead the company Health & Safety initiative recording and implementing training requirements where necessary
o Manage the field service vehicle fleet ensuring safety and compliance
• Develop the company project planning function to successfully plan and track projects from sales through to after-sales
• Provide management leadership to direct project installations and commissioning
• Develop and manage the company’s customer focused technical training function
• Provide the technical and engineering lead for the company, liaising with suppliers and technical partners to ensure a consistently high level of knowledge within the company
• Work with other members of the management team to deliver on the company’s strategic objectives and plan.
Skills and experience:
An all-round Engineering and Service Manager with the leadership qualities, ambition, technical knowledge, relevant experience, self-confidence and personal determination to help drive the service function forward.
Key skills will be:
• High level of relevant technical knowledge in electrical and mechanical engineering.
• Preferably degree educated however, HNC/HND or similar engineering qualification will be considered with electrical bias preferred
• Relevant Health & Safety qualification
• Ability to demonstrate a significant level of management experience in a similar function
• Strong leadership skills
• Experience of leading an engineering and field service team of similar nature
• Practical can-do attitude with a grounded approach to management
• Personable with good communication skills
• Customer focused
