Emotional and Mental Health Support Worker

A really rewarding position has become available for an Emotional and Mental Health Support Worker to work in a school in Oxford. This is an excellent position to gain valuable experience while also making a huge difference to the lives of vulnerable children.
These students struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, and various other mood disorders. They need someone who can facilitate a positive and safe environment for them to learn and grow. This is where you would come in.
As a Mental Health Assistant, you will be directly involved in helping children manage and cope with their emotions and mental health. You will help make learning fun and engaging while ensuring that it becomes concrete.
Your day-to-day duties will involve:
1. Supporting and shadowing the class teacher.
2. Providing 1:1 support for SEN students.
3. Running exciting lessons to ensure the classroom is a fun and engaging place.
4. Behavioural management as required.
The role would suit someone who is:
1. Resilient and confident in supporting young people with challenging mental health needs.
2. Aspiring psychologists, social workers, therapists, or counsellors.
Requirements:
Experience working with vulnerable children is desirable but not essential. Those with a background in sports, art, or drama will also be at an advantage. Graduates in a relevant field will also be considered.
