Medical Laboratory Assistant - Point of Care
The Laboratory Medicine department currently has a vacancy for a laboratory assistant. We are looking for a friendly and cheerful person, who is practical and has an interest in science. You will be based in Laboratory Medicine but the role involves visiting and supporting point of care services in clinical areas across the Trust.
The role is full time at 37.5 hours per week, although part-time options would be considered.
The post-holder will be supported with the necessary training and will be required to maintain competency as required for the role. Previous medical laboratory experience would be desirable, but full training will be provided.
The successful candidate will be literate, numerate, and have excellent keyboard skills.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE English or equivalent
* GCSE Maths or equivalent
* A level standard qualifications or NVQ 3 equivalent in a science-related subject
Skills
* Keyboard and data entry skills
* Ability to follow protocols
* Ability to work to deadlines and under some pressure
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Able to organise own workload
* Able to use own initiative and work flexibly
* Able to recognise and work within own limitations
* Ability to concentrate for long periods whilst at task
* Experience of contributing and assisting in the planning of changes and service improvements
* Experience of carrying out routine tasks
* Show an understanding of Health & Safety requirements, including COSHH regulations.
* Demonstrate an understanding of UKAS requirements.
Experience
* Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
* Competent in the use of standard IT packages
* Experience of working as an MLA in a laboratory environment.

£24,071 to £25,674 per annum pro rata if part-time.
