Our Planning team has new opportunities arising following recent instructions and upcoming projects. We are looking for commercially focused candidates who have the technical abilities to account manage key projects at a senior level.
Job Purpose
As a Senior Planner, you will have the responsibility of being the key point of contact for clients, delivering planning advice on planning applications and projects. You will continue to develop core competencies and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
* Specialist advice in your area of expertise with experience or seniority.
* Developing and refining commercial management, client relationship, and business development skills.
* Contributing to technical excellence in the team and mentoring team members.
* Reviewing work of other professional staff and directing a small team or project element.
* Building and consolidating networks within the industry.
* Ensuring a great client experience.
* Making contributions towards bids and project proposals.
* Applying principles in various contexts and demonstrating creativity.
* Achieving continuous improvement across services.
* Accountable for budgetary, quality, safety, and timeframe targets.
* Establishing milestones, deadlines, and team objectives.
* Liaising with contractors/suppliers to safeguard interests.
* Preparing and submitting planning applications, appeals, and pre-application inquiries.
* Conducting research and planning appraisals to establish development potential.
* Writing high-quality reports with clear recommendations.
* Providing guidance on planning submissions.
* Preparation of fee proposals to generate new business.
* Managing community engagement and public examinations.
* Communicating with all stakeholders and negotiating positive outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
* An RTPI accredited degree or Masters in a related discipline.
* Preferably a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or working towards it.
* At least two years’ post-qualification experience in a relevant role.
* At least two years working in the planning industry.

* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
* Strong client liaison and negotiation skills.

* Strong report writing skills.
* Strong understanding of the UK planning process.
