Summary
As a Tax Trainee, you will assist the tax team in personal tax administration, preparation and completion of income tax returns, calculation of client tax position/ liabilities and client communication. Once qualified, we offer further training and development to continue your career progression within DPC.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
* Support the tax department with personal tax administration tasks
* Obtain information from clients
* Compile information received from clients, ensure it is correctly allocated and filed
* Progress to preparing and completing income tax returns for individual clients, including calculation of tax position
* Notify clients of tax liabilities
* General tax department support

Course contents
* Record transactional data.
* Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
* Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
* Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
* Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
* Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
* Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan
* Level 3 Accounting Assistant Apprenticeship Standard -
* You will spend four days a week in the work place and one day a week at Newcastle College for your 'study day'

Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
* English (grade 4/C or above)
* Maths (grade 4/C or above)
