Primary Function: Assists the department in the Clerical aspects in preparation for patient meal service through accurate menu processing and assisting patients with menu selection.
Responsibilities
* Processes Room Service customer orders using HealthTouch computer system, including patient/family initiated orders and those patients needing assistance.
* Assists patients with telephone call backs or personal visitation as needed while ensuring adherence to all diet orders.
* Reviews computer printout to determine which patients have not placed an order for that meal period and initiates telephone or personal contact as appropriate.
* Documents number of meals served each day. Takes phone calls and faxes orders for all food requests.
* Receives requests for diet changes via computer, fax; or written format during downtime.
* Makes necessary diet changes, keeps “ Enter/Edit” computer screen and Room Service order system updated. Follows standard procedures for diet patterns.
* Coordinates processing of AM and PM nourishments orders and prints AM and PM nourishment labels.
* Processes orders for patients requested nourishments. Coordinate delivery of all tube feeding and oral supplement orders.
* Uses customer service training in all patient or customer contact.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of 2 years job-related experience and basic computer skills is required. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Knowledge and experience of normal and modified diets and carbohydrate counting and protein exchange systems preferred.
