What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint a learning support assistant who is caring, enthusiastic and who ideally has experience of working with children, from November 2024.
The successful candidate will work in close partnership with our SEN lead, the class teachers, parents and other agencies to support the children to achieve in lessons and have a happy time at school.
The successful applicant will:
• be supportive of our Catholic ethos
• have patience, and a kind, firm but fair approach;
• have a passion for children’s social progress and well being in addition to their academic success;
• be enthusiastic, self-motivated, creative and able to use their initiative;
• be committed to working as part of a team that has a ‘can do’ attitude;
• be flexible in the way they approach learning;
• be positive, calm and caring and able to sensitively support children;
• understand confidentiality and safeguarding;
• have experience of working with children with ASD or social communication difficulties
• have experience of PECs or TEACHH or similar programmes
• be able to adapt learning in the moment
