We are currently seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant with expertise in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and exceptional skills in behaviour management.
Job Description:
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join one of our partnered schools. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supporting students with SEMH, working with children who may display challenging behaviours, and possess a proactive approach to maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment. The role requires the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH and behavioural difficulties.
* Assist the class teacher in planning, implementing, and adapting lessons to meet the needs of all students.
* Implement behaviour management strategies effectively, maintaining a calm and consistent approach.
* Support students in developing emotional regulation skills and social interactions.
* Liaise with school staff, SENCOs, and parents to provide holistic support for students.
* Monitor and track student progress, reporting back to the relevant staff as needed.
* Contribute to the overall school ethos of inclusion and support for diverse learners.
* Assist with de-escalation strategies and promote a positive, safe learning environment.
* Encourage and motivate students to reach their full potential, both academically and personally.
Key Requirements:
* Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly with students who have SEMH needs and behaviour challenges.
* Excellent understanding of behaviour management techniques and the ability to apply them in a supportive and constructive manner.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional learning needs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
* A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent) is desirable.
* A DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and references from previous employers in educational settings.
