Base Location: Flexible across Southern England | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however, need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots in the South of England.

SSE Smart Buildings business is going through an exciting period of growth and is constantly looking at new markets in which to operate, opportunities to decarbonise transport and accelerate Net Zero. As such, we are looking for a Commercial Manager to support our team covering the South of England.
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for:
1. Drafting, negotiating, vetting, and concluding commercial contracts whilst undertaking commercial risk reviews and recording them in commercial reports and contract summaries to ensure awareness of obligations and risk mitigation.
2. Supporting our sales and project delivery teams to meet customer requirements, manage delivery risks, and ensure we deliver optimal commercial outcomes.
3. Supporting post-contract activity, upstream and downstream, on complex, challenging, and prestigious projects.
4. Ensuring that internal reports of the projects and contracts are accurate in respect of obligations, risks & liabilities, costs incurred, projection of future costs, contingency, variations, claims, sub-contract management, and profit declared.
To be considered for the role we would like you to have:
1. Relevant professional qualification (LLB, MRICS, BSc QS, etc.) with good working knowledge of construction law (be familiar with NEC, JCT, etc.).
2. Experience operating in a commercial/contract management role within the Construction or Mechanical & Electrical industry.
3. A level of understanding of the energy industry and commercial awareness of energy technologies and solutions.
4. A thorough understanding of how to deliver on the obligations contained within our contracts and thereby robustly secure the best outcome for the organisation.
5. Knowledge or understanding of Building Energy Management Systems/M&E Plant as well as the construction industry is an advantage.
