Job Description COMMERCIAL OFFICER, SALES AND CONTRACTING TEAM Full Time Derby What you will be doing: We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Officer to join the Contracting Team. This role reports to Commercial Manager, Contracting. The role involves drafting, negotiating, amending and agreeing proposal and contract documentation, as allocated by Commercial Executive, in accordance and in compliance with company/sector specific processes. To work with Sales to develop the value analysis and proposition of guarantees, warranties and service structures during the sales campaign and contracting phases. To instruct new business on all contract commitments. To complete a full handover of new business with the Commercial Management teams. This role will require some work outside the normal schedule and the position involves a requirement to travel overseas 2/3 times per year, sometimes at short notice. Responsibilities: In this role you will be working as part of an Integrated Campaign Team (ICT), to provide commercial input to the development of the sales strategy, challenging the Sales Director and VP, where appropriate, other responsibilities will be: Work with Sales to identify and value campaign-specific competitive advantages / disadvantages of RR service structures/service levels/guarantees. This includes running sensitivity models (using standard and approved tools) and working with the BE Ops and Capability teams, as appropriate. Provide advice on how to make best use of guarantees and TotalCare structure in the campaign and contracting phases. This to include providing an explanation of service and guarantee components and logic to both the ICT and the Customer to ensure that the Customer ascribes full value for Rolls-Royce offerings within its evaluation. To work with Sales to influence the Customer to select Rolls-Royce’s preferred service structures, service levels and guarantees that provide greatest competitive advantage to Rolls-Royce and minimise the impact of identified competitive disadvantages, using Customer perspective modelling, where applicable. With technical supervision and coaching from the Commercial Manager, to either support or lead, where appropriate, the drafting, negotiating and amendment of allocated proposals and contracts in accordance with all relevant processes. To provide support to Commercial Manager or VP Commercial with internal approvals, elements of drafting and discussion and coordination of inputs from subject matter experts. With coaching, lead or support the ICT during the sales and contracting phase. To identify and assess potential risks and liabilities inherent in the negotiation of proposals and contracts, proposing and negotiating amendments to manage, minimise or mitigate such risks or liabilities whilst achieving the expected financial return (using judgement in balancing commercial/legal considerations against the requirements of the Sector/Business, to secure compliance with Commercial policies and procedures). To feedback experiences from sales and contract negotiation activities and proactively contribute to, as required, the development of policies, services and guarantees and precedent documentation based on lessons learned. To instruct new business agreements, gain commitment acceptance and then handover to the Commercial Management team. Flexible and adaptable to support various Customer’s sales and contracting activities across the Customer Team.
