Estates Building Technician
PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Building Technician will undertake unsupervised planned, corrective and breakdown maintenance and to include new project work to a good standard of workmanship and to current building or health regulations on building elements and fabric within the hospital and its grounds, The post requires a high degree of autonomy.
The post holder will be reporting, on a daily basis, to supervisor or team leaders
Main duties of the job
Undertake minor repair works and general carpentry & Joinery maintenance activities as directed by the supervisor or team leaders.
To carry out internal and external painting and decorating requirements within the Trust and any other properties serviced by the Trust. Erecting of access equipment as required, with appropriate training and competency.
Must be prepared to work out side normal working hours, as and when required to do so to meet the demands of the service.
To efficiently diagnose and repair faults in building structure ( including roof work, fabric and finishes to deal with new situations as they arise and to pass on knowledge to others. Pre order all materials need for tasks through the trusts Eros ordering system and all consumables be accounted for.
To be conversant and qualifies to use and maintain all relevant hand power tools, and workshop equipment in a safe effective manner. Be capable of carrying out a good standard of workmanship in all duties as directed by the team leader or supervisor.
To request assistance from team leader where task exceeds loan worker capabilities.
Complete all reports sheets when finished; always carry an estates communication device (pager, radio, mobile phone if applicable) to facilitate immediate response to emergencies.
To carry out small works alterations to the internal fabric to change/ alter the size of office accommodation/ rooms and to carry out the change from concept to completion from fabric to fix furnishing.

1. Recognised Trade Apprenticeship or level 2 City &Guilds Craft Certificate
Desirable
2. Level 3 City Guilds Craft Certificate, or equivalent
Experience

3. To have relevant previous working experience within the building trades..
4. Experience of working within a large industrial/ commercial environment.
5. To be a competent person on the safe use of mobile access platform ( PASMA) to be a qualified competent person in the safe operation of workshop tools under PUWER 1998.
Desirable
6. Experience of working in an Acute Hospital Environment.
7. Competent person to erect portable tower scaffolding
