We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Sheffield. Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will take on an advanced role in designing, developing, and integration of control systems for various industries and clients. In this role, you will assume greater responsibility in leading the technical solutions for projects, mentoring junior engineers, and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of control solutions. You will: Successfully identify and complete all relevant training both in-house and external, as required. Develop complex system architectures, designs, and detailed specifications to meet client requirements. Integrate various subsystems and components to form a cohesive system, ensuring overall system compatibility and performance. Develop and execute system testing and validation routines to verify that systems meet design specifications and performance criteria. Prepare, maintain and review comprehensive technical documentation, including requirements, design specifications, test plans, operator manuals and quality documentation. Analyse and translate client requirements into functional and non-functional specifications independently or as a part of a larger team. Drive technical discussions with the project teams and identify and resolve technical issues. Support and lead commissioning at client sites. Select suitable components and specify procurement activities as required. Be actively involved in the testing and troubleshooting of bespoke systems. Encourage and champion changes and improvements as opportunities arise. Engage in continuous learning to develop technical skills and knowledge relevant to system integration. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment. Communicate with clients to understand their needs, manage expectations, ensuring their satisfaction with the delivered system. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, workshop and project management, to ensure successful project delivery. Follow all health and safety regulations, procedures and protocols. Be accountable for delivering their project scope to company quality management system. Be capable of conducting quality and technical review on peers. Assist with any other duties reasonably requested and in line with the requirements of the post. We are looking for: Experience and Knowledge. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in systems engineering/hardware or electrical design. In depth knowledge of Software Packages relevant to the role of a Senior Systems/Hardware Engineer i.e. AutoCAD Electrical, SCADA packages, PLC packages and HMI packages. Experience in the application of systems engineering principles and methodologies. Familiarity and experience in the application of system integration processes, tools and technologies. An understanding of industry and company quality management systems, process and procedure. Experience working on client sites.
