Our client is looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer on a temporary basis initially until the end of the year. This is an almost fully remote role; however, there will be a requirement on occasions to visit the Darlington plant.
You will be required to utilise strong quality and technical skills to develop suppliers and products that can meet customer requirements. The role requires strong partnerships with the external supply base, with supply chain teams, and with engineering to achieve results.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Build strong relationships with all critical partners to improve quality and business outcomes, including: external suppliers, external customers, and internal customers and stakeholders, such as Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Engineering.
2. Support the cross-functional supplier selection process for any given component.
3. Collaborate with external suppliers to validate that the manufacturing process is designed in a manner that enables conformance to the engineering print, engineering standards, and customer-specific requirements.
4. Apply industry common Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes, Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) tools, and the client's specialty tools to develop zero defect components within the external supply base.
5. Embrace continuous improvement in the external supply base by contributing to product and process-focused projects that utilise industry-proven methodologies, such as lean and six-sigma.
6. Conduct external supplier audits in support of supplier risk mitigation, supplier readiness, and supplier performance improvement.
7. Support quality improvement plans within the external supply base in order to improve supplier performance.
8. Ensure resolution of external supplier related quality challenges by leading root cause analysis, supporting the development of corrective actions, and verifying the effectiveness of corrective actions.
You will be required to have a minimum of 3 years experience in a Supplier Quality Engineering role. You must have a college, university, or equivalent degree / Time served / H/ONC / HND in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject. Industry-specific experience will also be considered in the absence of a degree or formal qualification.
You will be working 37.5 hours per week. There will not be an initial requirement to travel to client sites; however, this may change further down the line.
