Job Introduction We are now looking for a Senior Finance Business Partner - International Regions to join our International News team based in London, as part of News and Current Affairs Finance. The role holder will deliver a best in class international business partnering service to 6 Regional Directors and will ensure there are strong financial controls and financial compliance in each region. This is a key leadership role for a global team, reporting to the Head of Finance International - Business Partnering and Global Controls. This role will be working on regional strategy and key business growth proposals. The News and Current Affairs team plays a key operational and strategic role in News and Current Affairs, a division which includes; all high profile network news programming, World Service (spanning 42 languages), World TV News, BBC Monitoring, World Service English TV, Radio and Online, Content journalists and UK and International Digital teams, and an overseas office infrastructure that supports local output and newsgathering reaching a weekly audience in the hundreds of millions. The Finance team ensures the division meets its strategic objectives in the most efficient but compliant way, and is organised around 5 pillars of activity: Business Partnering – supporting and influencing business decision-making, driving efficiency, the management of risk mitigation and ensuring adherence to all regulatory and stakeholder requirements. Local Accounting – supporting the business with local information, and real-time ‘what-if’ analysis as well as being a bridge into Group Finance teams covering Controls, Financial Planning and Insights and Financial Operations and systems. Analytics and Business Performance – combining both financial and non-financial information to help drive favourable business outcomes and also the ideation and progression of cost savings initiatives and business cases supporting, advising and challenging the International business. International risk, compliance, and controls – ensuring we can continue to operate in a range of challenging business circumstances and an ever-evolving regulatory framework across multiple countries with a robust control process and monitoring system. Identify, recommend actions and escalate within the News Division and Group functions as required. Payments and business administration to support deployments (at times critical) across the world - centralised to ensure consistency, efficiency and compliance of approach. Main Responsibilities As Senior Finance Business Partner - International Regions, you will: Drive forward change across all 6 regions of the business by defining financial strategy and delivering high profile corporate initiatives for the regions. Take ownership for regular accounting, budgeting and forecasting, audit, and driving revenue growth in respective regions ensuring that BBC News operates in a compliant regional environment. Oversee and lead a rigorous International Financial Control environment and pro-actively identify and manage regional risks and issues including escalating them where required. Deliver a best in class international business partnering service to the Regional Directors of BBC News and their leadership teams. This is a role with profile and real impact. You will provide leadership to 6 regional finance teams and work closely with Head Office other finance teams/functions. This role will need to ensure that outsourced service providers are delivering the transactional support as per required standards. Are you the right candidate? You will demonstrate experience of working in a leadership role focused on International Business Partnering and Global Controls and operating within an International and UK Financial Control environment, with familiarity of dealing with risk. This may be experience gained in the Media industry, a regulated industry, or within a large organisation or consultancy environment. To be successful in this role you will need: Proven experience of delivering high profile projects at pace and managing change within an organisation with operating experience at both a group and divisional level. Demonstrable experience of setup, implementation, monitoring, and tracking of international financial controls in complex jurisdictions and environments. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders and present complex data in an accessible way. Experience designing and monitoring governance systems in-line with principles of managing public money. Deep understanding of financial risk management and control. Experience of working with financial accounting systems and the ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex financial data to a range of audiences. This will be supported by a professional accounting qualification (i.e. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
