EPUT provides community health, mental health and learning disability services to support more than 3.2 million people living across Bedfordshire, Essex and Suffolk. We have also been running the COVID-19 vaccination programme across mid and south Essex and Suffolk and north east Essex.
The Trust is a large employer in the East of England region, with more than 10,000 staff working across more than 200 sites. We also provide services in people’s homes and in community settings.
EPUT was formed on 1 April 2017 following the merger of North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (NEP) and South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT). A new leadership team was established at the Trust in 2020.
Robin Pinto is a male 18 bedded low secure unit in Luton, Located close to the M1 and next to the Luton and Dunstable hospital. The unit offers a specialist service for the assessment and treatment of men with Mental Illness who have offended, or exhibit offending behaviour. The unit provides a suite of therapeutic interventions aimed at helping its clients to recover and adjust to their current situation. This therapeutic interventions are administered by nurses, doctors, social workers, occupational therapist, psychological staff and other allied professional, and as such there is a need for ward administrator/receptionist to help us meet the patients’ needs.
· To work independently and accountably as part of a team of clinicians offering 24 hr mental health access and information in the locality of the Trust. The service will be 7 days a week, 24 hours a day for 365 days a year working shifts in an in-patient setting.
· To act as a role model to Health Care Assistants, supervising to ensure high quality care isgiven.
· Work collaboratively with key partner organisations, service users, clinicians and other practitioners within the multi-disciplinary team.
· To deliver a high quality and effective operational service to patients with complex needs, in accordance with the principles and objective of the Trust and its vision as identified in the service.
· To work collaboratively with others within the new organization to provide an exemplary level of care to service users and their carers.

Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.
All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
CLINICAL
· To be responsible along with other nursing staff for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of all care aspects of individual patient’s care.
· Attending to the physical and psychological needs of the patients under the care of the nursingteam.
· Act as key worker and co-worker for a designated group ofclients.
· Delivery effective individualised care by supervising staff in the assessment of patient’s condition. Ensure that accurate and objective information is recorded and signed by the appropriate member ofstaff.
· Establish therapeutic relationships with individual clients, relatives and carers. Write and contribute towards the formulation of care plans.
· Ensure effective and confidential communication, at all times maintaining strict confidentiality with regard to any information concerning patients andcolleagues.
· Demonstrate an awareness of the needs of carers of patients with mental health problems.
· To fully comply with the requirements of theNMCand upkeep ofregistration.
· Be aware of the Mental Health Act 1983 and be aware of clients detained under section of the Mental Health Act 1983 in the clinicalarea.
· Supervise the formulation of plans for the patient’s discharge and transfer from the clinical areasinline with Care Programme Approach, Community Care Act 1990 and dischargepolicy.
· Observe any changes in a patient’s physical condition or mental state and document in an appropriatemanner.
· Assist patients towards self-care andindependence.
· Understand the need for personal responsibility in relation to using the correct techniques for moving and handlingpatients.
· Act in a relaxed manner, thereby contributing to the creation and maintenance of a calm and relaxedatmosphere/environment.
· Establish positive professional and appropriate relationships with patients adopting a non-judgemental approach. Always be prepared to listen and treat each patient with respect and courtesy; valuing them asindividuals.
· Carry out planning and organisation of the therapeutic and social activities for patients in the clinicalarea.
· To act as a mentor to studentnurses.
· To provide managerial supervision to junior colleagues.
· Participate in therapeutic and socialactivities/groups.
· As appropriate and necessary, assist patients who have the need to use hoists and wheelchairs.
· As requested, take on clinical, managerial and environmentalresponsibilities.
Ensure the local security protocols and procedures are adhered to at all times.
