Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
This role is designed to support the provision of a seven-day service of activities that are based on providing activities and coordinating with AHP (Allied Health Professional) service provision.
It will involve provision of group and individual activities that provide meaningful activity and structure to a patient's day in support of developing ways of coping and enhancing recovery.
This role is aimed at reducing boredom and frustration for patients on the inpatient wards. These emotions are often a precursor to incidents of dysregulation or agitation.
The fulfilment of the role will need to be co-produced through community meetings and patient care plans to ensure the delivery is aimed at the current inpatients needs.
We would welcome applications for people with lived experience within mental health.
Main duties of the job
1. Provision of activities as designed and requested by patients over seven day a week service provision. Working closely with AHP colleagues to coordinate a timetable of offer.
2. To help patients identify their own recovery goals and what is meaningful to them.
3. It is not essential to have a full UK driving licence as we like to encourage patients to access the community via public transport as they will require this skill when they move on.
4. Parts of your role will require working outside e.g. sport related activities, walks, as well as accessing the community to gather resources.
5. To adopt a pragmatic and non-judgemental approach.
6. To provide structured opportunities for people to relax and socialise.
7. Explain principles, techniques, and safety procedures to participants in recreational activities, and demonstrate use of materials and equipment.
8. To act in a manner to respect and accommodate the customs, individuality, values, sexuality and spiritual beliefs, supporting the individual to fulfil these.
