Project Health and Safety Services is looking for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our vibrant, close-knit team in our rapidly growing family-run business. We pride ourselves in working with a wide variety of organisations across all sectors, delivering health and safety support and advice.
This is a boots on the ground role, and your typical week will involve working in the field with our wide range of clients. This role will be based in and around the Birmingham area, working primarily with a public sector client focussing on the care sector, and the maintenance of care homes.
Responsibilities
As a Health and Safety Advisor you will advise, support, and guide your own portfolio of clients, ensuring best practice of safety management and compliance is always maintained.
* Client Engagement: Embedding a positive health and safety culture, leading client meetings, providing tailored training advice.
* Compliance Assurance: Conducting workplace inspections, reviewing policies, and ensuring adherence to HSE standards.
* Problem-Solving: Managing incidents, liaising with the HSE, and implementing practical solutions.
* Organisation: Planning your own workload and diary to ensure all client requirements are met.
* Documentation Preparation: Reviewing, amending and producing clients’ health and safety policies, procedures and other documentation (including RAMS, COSHH, etc).
* Accident/Incident Investigations: Undertaking accident/incident investigations, liaising with the HSE when necessary.

Your ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams, analyse risks in care settings, and offer practical solutions will be key to thriving in this role. Other key skills and attributes include:
* Flexible and adaptable, with good organisational and time management skills.
* Able to work under pressure.
* Attention to detail, working to a consistently high standard.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills. You must be able to illustrate complex concepts in an easy-to-understand way.
* Able to analyse technically detailed health and safety information, identifying underlying issues and risks associated with these.
* Problem solving in relation to health and safety activities to offer suitable controls for identified risks. An ability to effectively manage operational health and safety is key.
Qualifications and Experience
As a minimum we require our advisors to hold a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent) and have 2 years of experience in a similar role. A full UK Driving Licence is also required.
The following additional qualifications are also desirable:
* NEBOSH Diploma or Equivalent.
* SVQ L3 or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
* Award in Education and Training, or equivalent.
* Hold or be working towards IOSH Membership.
* NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety or equivalent.
