Job Advert: Nursery and Reception Teaching Assistant - Supporting Children with ALN Teaching Personnel are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of a supportive and welcoming school in Newport, which is preparing to support a new intake of pupils. We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic, and proactive Nursery and Reception Teaching Assistants to provide vital support for children in their early years of education, particularly those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). In this rewarding role, you will help young learners during their first stage of schooling, ensuring they have a nurturing, safe, and inclusive environment to succeed. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support to children, including those with social, emotional, and mental health needs, and play a key role in their social, emotional, and academic development. Key Responsibilities: Provide individual support to children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including those with social, emotional, and mental health challenges, in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Assist in delivering an inclusive curriculum that helps develop confidence, resilience, and essential social skills. Work alongside the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning plans for children with ALN, ensuring their unique needs are met. Help create a positive, nurturing, and safe learning environment where every child feels valued, respected, and supported in their education. Support the development of numeracy and language skills through engaging activities that give children a strong foundation for future learning. Implement structured interventions to encourage emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and overall well-being. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and staff, offering emotional and social support as needed. About You: We are looking for candidates who: Have a genuine passion for supporting young children, especially those with ALN, in their early educational journey. Demonstrate patience, empathy, and positivity, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children and their families. Are able to work well as part of a team and are proactive in addressing the individual needs of each child. Possess a solid understanding of the EYFS framework and can adapt teaching methods to meet each child's learning style. Experience in early childhood education, working with children with special educational needs, or supporting children with ALN is highly valued, but not essential.
