RPS Risk have opportunities available for a Senior Nuclear Safety Assessor to join our Health, Safety & Risk business. We are flexible on location. The RPS Risk team has been a leading provider of nuclear safety and risk consultancy services to clients in the UK for over 30 years. We provide core radiological safety assessment services supported by in-house specialist capabilities in Criticality safety, Radiological Shielding assessment, Human Factors, Nuclear Fire, and Peer Review from our team of 50 staff. This capability is complemented by a growing Fire (conventional) and Process Safety section providing services across a range of sectors. The Role: As a Senior Nuclear Safety Assessor, you will deliver nuclear safety projects and tasks, ensuring they remain on budget and meet client satisfaction while taking the technical lead in preparing nuclear safety cases and supporting documentation. Key responsibilities include: Leading hazard identification workshops, e.g., HAZOP. Using Claims/Arguments/Evidence techniques or similar tools to articulate safety case arguments clearly. Liaising with engineering, plant operators, and other specialist safety disciplines to present coherent safety cases. Maintaining and developing lasting relationships with clients. Managing teams of consultants to support project delivery. Providing technical guidance and mentoring for more junior team members. Recognising and supporting opportunities for business and service development. Your skills and experience: Skilled and experienced nuclear safety consultant with excellent report writing and mentoring abilities. Expertise in nuclear safety techniques. Experience in Safety Case production and management, hazard identification, fault analysis, and probabilistic safety assessment. Knowledge of relevant UK regulations and standards. Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Post-graduate relevant experience. Leadership skills and strong interpersonal capabilities. Flexible approach to support effective delivery.
