Job Title: Programme Manager- Pollution Taskforce
Location: South Coast- You can be based in one of our offices within Southern Water patch- Chatham, Falmer, Durrington, Otterbourne- Hybrid- 3 office/ site and 2 WFH- It is essential for you to have a driving licence due to occasional site visit requirement

We are currently recruiting for 2x Pollution Taskforce Programme Managers with overall accountability for driving the end-to-end pollution process, to reduce pollution numbers and taking preventive measures. You’ll be working with subject matter experts and others to lead the scoping, planning and the delivery of change initiatives that drive towards our environmental objectives and pollution performance goals. Bringing your delivery expertise and project control experience, working with relevant stakeholders, you will identify problems and opportunities with associated root cause or driver.
We have two opportunities reporting to Head of Pollution Performance, coordinating the various projects that are delivering pollution benefits across a range of types of schemes including asset replacement, increasing the capability of our people, process improvement to lean principles and accountable for making sure projects can be delivered on time, clear any blockers, able to track and claim benefits. Therefore, one vacancy will be focussed on proactive ways of looking at asset failures and bring the intervention ahead of failure. The other vacancy will be coordinating projects on how we assess and manage risk, improving the speed of intervention, and the continuous learning cycle to speed up the organisational learning and change process.
In summary, you’ll develop options for how these can be addressed or exploited recognising the need to meet return on investment criteria and to deliver pragmatic solutions within sometimes limited timescale
Overall responsibilities as a programme manager will be developing and reviewing delivery resources where available, the most suitable action plans that recognise resource availability and constraints that will go through a formal approval. Once in execution, the programme managers will drive, support, and rigorously assure delivery of the individual initiative.
In this fully empowered role, helping to drive the project managers that are delivering projects, you will be working in a matrixed structure alongside supply chain consultants to solve problems or test new technologies. To be successful, you will be an experienced programme or project manager being confident self-starter with solution focussed mindset, strong collaborator with all levels of management expertise managing dependency, people, and a strong influencer with great negotiation skills. It will be equally advantageous if you have high-level operational knowledge and experience within the water industry. Passionate in delivering positive change within the environment sector and understanding of how to protect the environment, you will have an in depth understanding of value across people, processes, technology, organisation, and environment with process design knowledge and highly numerate and competent with spreadsheets. Relevant degree or project management qualification is desirable.
