Hallfield School is seeking to appoint an experienced and passionate Head of Design Technology / Design Technology Teacher to lead and shape the development of this subject as we expand to Year 11 over the next 3 years. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, ambitious, and creative individual who is eager to inspire pupils and establish a first-class DT provision. In this role, you will be responsible for developing a forward-thinking and innovative curriculum, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning from Year 3 to Year 11 (GCSE).
As the Head of Design & Technology, you will lead the School’s DT provision and contribute to its ambitious vision. You will teach across Key Stages 2 - 4, including GCSE-level Design Technology. Additionally experience and/or willingness to teach Food Technology from Year 3 upwards is desirable. The ability to offer a second subject to GCSE level would be an advantage.
Key responsibilities in this role will include:
* Developing and delivering an engaging, inspiring, and innovative DT curriculum for pupils from Year 3 to Year 11, ensuring progression and challenge at every stage.
* Leading and managing the DT department, including the development of schemes of work, resources, and assessment strategies.
* Ensuring that health and safety policies and procedures are fully implemented in all DT and Food Technology activities.
* Monitoring and assessing pupils’ progress, providing clear feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
* Managing and maintaining DT facilities and equipment to a high standard, including budgeting and resourcing.
* Teaching Food Technology lessons for Year 3 upwards, ensuring a balanced and engaging approach to the subject.
* Collaborating with colleagues to support the wider curriculum and enhance cross-curricular links.
* As a form teacher, contributing to the pastoral care and personal development of pupils.
* Contributing to the academic and extracurricular life of the School.
* Actively participating in the wider school community, including clubs, trips, events, and initiatives.
