Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate MUST possess an excellent telephone manner and customer skills, be able to work independently or as part of a team, and have experience of using SystemOne.
Hours of work ideally required are:
1. Tuesday 7:45 am to 1:15 pm
2. Wednesday 7:30 am to 1:15 pm
3. Friday 1:15 pm to 6:30 pm

Our doctors and teams work very closely with patients and even visit certain elderly patients in the hospital when they are admitted, again, to ensure continuity and liaison between hospital and primary care.
Job responsibilities
Reception
1. Receiving patients, consulting with members of the practice team.
2. Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patients and checking names and addresses.
3. Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary.
Appointments
1. Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
2. Deal with visits/requests.
Administration
1. To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures.
2. To work in accordance with written protocols.
3. Pulling/filing notes for surgeries and updating as necessary.
4. Filing post in medical records.
5. Photocopy as requested.
Computer
1. Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records.
2. Process patients' changes of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area).
3. Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines.
Telephone
1. Have working knowledge of the telephone system, during and after hours.
2. Answer the telephone when necessary.
Other Tasks
1. Ensure building security; have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
2. Any other tasks allocated by managers.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Previous experience of working in a GP Surgery.
* Trained to use System One.
