To support the efficient running of the factory through maintenance and reactive repair.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The engineer’s priority is to attend to the plant’s reactive needs whilst progressing other repairs and projects as required. These include pro-active tasks such as projects, line improvements, off line repairs, planned maintenance, and any other tasks deemed appropriate by the Engineering Manager.
Personal Qualities
* Carry out reactive maintenance to all plant, equipment, services, and buildings as required, including fault finding and repairs.
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance and monitoring as per schedules.
* Assist with developing and implementing line improvements.
* Record and communicate all findings.
* Assist with projects and the installation and commissioning of new plant.
* Liaise with outside contractors where required.
* Work with team leaders and the management team to ensure targets are met on safety, quality, output, efficiency, energy, and waste.
* Communicate effectively with the Engineering Manager on all engineering and production issues.
* Assist in controlling department budgets.
* Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Maintain a flexible role in the operation, covering scheduled holidays, additional hours, absences, and call outs where required.
Qualifications and Skills
* Apprentice trained in a building trade or equivalent with an associated qualification.
* Relevant experience in an engineering role essential, ideally in a high volume production environment.
* Good understanding of production plant and equipment and basic mechanical and electrical principles.
* Experience in fault finding (electrical and mechanical), bench fitting, servicing, fabrication, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, and installation.
* Able to identify and resolve issues promptly.
