Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Respiratory Practitioner to join the Paediatric Respiratory Physiology service to help with the expansion of our service.
Experience of performing spirometry in children is essential. The successful candidate will need excellent interpersonal skills, be able to motivate and develop others. They should enjoy working as part of a team but also be able to work autonomously.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role will be covering a variety of respiratory and sleep diagnostic investigations. The successful candidate will be expected to be proficient in performing Spirometry and FeNO. Experience and knowledge of further respiratory and sleep investigations would be advantageous; however further training can be provided.
There will also be an aspect of administrative duties required for the role.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Spirometry (Outpatient Clinics & on the ward)
* Bronchodilator response
* Full PFT’s (Using body plethysmography and transfer factors)
* Exercise Induced Assessment
* Multiple Breath Nitrogen Washout Test
* Induced Sputum
* Exhaled Nitric Oxide Testing
* Setting up patients for Overnight Saturations using various monitors
* Downloading/analysis/reporting of Overnight Saturations and Capnography studies
* Downloading/Analysis and generating in depth detailed reports of Polygraphy studies
* Earlobe Capillary Samples
Person specification
Training and Qualifications
* 5 GCSE's A-C (Maths, English and Science)
* ARTP Full Certificate in Paediatric Spirometry
* Science based A Levels
Experience
* Previous experience of working with children, ideally in a healthcare setting
* Knowledge and practical experience of routine lung function and basic sleep investigations
Communication and relationship skills
* Must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and other work professionals.
* Possess good customer care skills
* Ability to work as part of a team and to show initiative when working alone.
Analytical and Judgement skills
* Ability to analyse and interpret results as well as solving technical problems
* Shows evidence of working with attention to detail
Planning and organisation skills
* Able to prioritise and manage own tasks and workload accordingly, ensuring tasks are completed to specified standards and timescales.
* Must be flexible and able to deal with constantly changing workload and priorities to meet the needs of the clinical service
