This is an exciting opportunity to join a team delivering internationally significant environmental projects across the North and West of the Lake District. As part of the communications and marketing team, you'll work across our portfolio supporting a wide range of projects and events. Using the full marketing mix, you’ll tell the stories of our work caring for the Lake District. You'll work 15 hours a week until the end of the 24-month contract. What it's like to work here: Your contractual location will be Borrowdale and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview. The North and West Lakes is a large countryside portfolio which includes Wasdale, the home of England’s tallest mountain, Buttermere where the Rannerdale bluebells attract springtime crowds and Borrowdale, where Derwent Water plays host to millions of visitors every year. It's an exciting time to be joining the team with many projects coming to light which range from accessibility in the outdoors to garden exhibitions to large scale landscape recovery projects. With so many stories to tell and a lot of land to cover, you'll occasionally need to travel to one of our sites to speak with members of the team, snap some photos or capture some video for our socials. Despite the size of the portfolio, you'll be part of a close-knit team and will gain a real insight and understanding of the work we are doing to preserve our areas of beauty whilst achieving better outcomes for nature. What you'll be doing: As a Communications and Marketing Officer, you'll be helping support our Senior Communications and Marketing Officer, to deliver the communications plan. This will include researching ways to reach new audiences in order to grow our reach and gain support for projects as well as getting conservation and safety in the outdoors messaging out further afield. You'll get to put your creative side to good use by helping to put together engaging content for our social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok. As a team, we look after 7 webpages which you'll help to keep up to date and working to their full potential. To keep the rest of the portfolio as well as the wider National Trust team informed on the great things happening across our sites, you'll also help put together our internal newsletter and get stories onto our other internal channels. With this being a dynamic and ambitious team, there is a variety of tasks throughout the year with many opportunities for you get involved with projects you find inspiring.
