The Regional Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager will be responsible for partnering with site-based and regional stakeholders in our Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) Sortation Centres to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
The successful candidate will identify, coordinate, and drive improvements in safety, quality, and productivity, working with stakeholders to continuously improve the functionality and level of service that the Sortation Centre provides to our customers. You’ll lead the onsite safety teams and help your colleagues maintain high standards, all while driving a culture of safety and inclusivity on your site, and influence operational leaders and support their teams to ‘operationalise’ safety to reduce safety risk in our processes, supporting the provision of a safe and healthy working environment for our Associates.
Key job responsibilities
1. Define a safety strategy and lead on its implementation.
2. Manage the health and safety team at the sortation centres, including supervision of staff to ensure delivery of objectives.
3. Proactively engage in collaborative health and safety projects across all operations sites.
4. Provide authoritative advice and guidance on health & safety matters to all stakeholders within designated area of responsibility.
5. Review and audit arrangements for health & safety management and continuously improve these arrangements where appropriate.
6. Provide strategies to plan and organise work systems to reduce health & safety risks, recommending and implementing mitigations and processes.
7. Ensure robust reporting regimes are in place for Health and Safety metrics.
8. Provide management information and statistics related to your area of responsibility.
9. Support business change through effective change management processes within the fast-paced SC environment.
10. Drive behavioural culture change programme across a large, complex, multi-shift operation.
11. Implement and review company global / EU safety policies ensuring that local HSE requirements are met.
12. Where required, proxy for the UK WHS Regional Leader.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. A Bachelor degree or equivalent level of qualification in line with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
2. Senior level experience in health and safety (e.g. Head of, Senior Manager).
3. Member of IOSH/CIEH/IIRSM preferred (or equivalent), working towards will be considered.
4. Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability.
5. Ability to travel up to 40%.
6. Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Health and Safety/Environmental Health, Master’s degree or equivalent level of qualification in line with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
2. ISO Lead Auditor.
3. Experience in a fast-paced, changing/growing organisation.
4. Handle changing priorities, able to work with ambiguity and use good judgment in a high-paced environment.
5. Proven track record of people leadership and development.
6. Interest in long-term career development.
7. Experience with Lean, 5S and Kaizen methodologies.
8. Relevant experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including your peers and leadership.
9. Strong stakeholder management capabilities.
