Position: 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Year 1 & 2)
Fixed term to 18th July 2025 linked to EHCP funding, though likely to continue.
Part-time, afternoons – 1pm to 3.30pm Monday to Friday
The Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and compassionate member of staff to support a child in our Year 1 & 2 class with an EHCP. We are a small, caring and nurturing school on the outskirts of Whitehaven. You will be a valued part of our school community working within the values of Manners, Respect & Success.
You will be a caring practitioner with a commitment to providing a safe learning environment working on both a 1:1 and small group basis. The ability to form good relationships with children, parents and other colleagues is essential.
The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate checks, and will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check and complete a Childcare Disqualification declaration. All members of staff undergo safeguarding training.

Teaching Assistant: 12.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri) Grade 5, PCD5 (£25,183 per annum, pro rata, term time only & holiday entitlement – approx. £13.05 per hour).
The successful candidate should be:
• A qualified teaching assistant with a level 2 or equivalent qualification.
• Experience of working with pupils in a primary setting, including working with children who have additional needs.
• Calm and positive in supporting within the school environment.
• Dedicated to ensuring the wellbeing and progress of 1:1 and small groups.
• Enthusiastic, flexible and caring; able to work as part of a strong team under the direction of the KS1 teacher.
• Able to adapt approach to support specific needs of individual pupil and small groups.
