Your Role
This role will include completing Care Act assessments, support planning, and risk assessments. You will need to ensure legal compliance and possess knowledge of legislation, especially relating to mental health and adult social care. You will work autonomously with a high standard of recording and strengths-based working. You will be working under the Care Act 2014 and will also be expected to complete mental capacity assessments and social circumstance reports. You will be part of a duty rota, dealing with reviews and urgent tasks for cases awaiting allocation.
You will join a well-established team and work closely with the community mental health team and other health colleagues. You must be able to work in a team and autonomously, with experience in mental health and knowledge of the Mental Health Act. You will undertake safeguarding enquiries and work in a strengths-based way, following the values of Stockport and keeping the people of Stockport at the heart of what we do. Regular supervision and reflective supervision will be provided to manage an appropriate case load. There may also be elements of complex Ministry of Justice cases and cases that carry a high level of risk.
You will be expected to undertake regular training provided by adult social care. You will have development reviews and will be expected to work in a hybrid manner, being in the office at least 75% of the working week to receive support. Initially, more office presence will be required during your induction period.
It is expected that the post holder will have completed the ASYE programme successfully and have experience working with people with severe and enduring mental health issues, as well as knowledge of the duties around S117 aftercare.
About You
We are looking for a motivated social worker who is dedicated to ensuring the people of Stockport receive the care they need while maintaining independence and utilizing community resources in an asset-based approach. You should be a qualified and experienced social worker with knowledge, interest, and passion for mental health social work. Experience and knowledge of completing complex mental capacity assessments, understanding the Court of Protection, and writing legal court reports is essential. Knowledge of direct payments and social work theory and law relating to adults with severe and enduring mental health issues is also beneficial.
