About the Role: Equitas are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) team. The role involves working closely with students who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. You will play a key role in providing tailored support to ensure students can access their learning and develop both academically and personally. Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, helping them engage with their learning. Assist the teacher in delivering lessons tailored to individual needs, fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment. Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs to develop coping strategies and improve their engagement in education. Contribute to behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policies. Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families to encourage progress and collaboration. Assist with daily routines, supervision, and interventions as required. Requirements: Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role in an SEN or PRU setting. A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to supporting children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs. Excellent communication and behaviour management skills. Ability to de-escalate challenging situations effectively. A proactive mindset with the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment. A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3) is desirable but not essential. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one). Why Join Us?
