My client would ideally be interested in candidates with a background in water and civils. My client is a first-class civil engineering main contractor who really values their staff, as demonstrated by their fantastic staff retention rate.
Responsibilities of the Senior Quantity Surveyor
1. Supply chain management
2. Compile forecasts and attend forecast meetings
3. Prepare internal contract valuations
4. Develop and produce reports
5. Monitor performance standards & quality
6. Procure and manage subcontractors
7. Build strong relationships with clients & their representatives
8. Establish & actively promote working relationships between the department
9. Manage the contract and scope of works
10. Discuss and develop procurement strategy
11. Submit timely applications for payments
12. Review costs & value
Role Requirements
1. Experienced in delivering large scale projects including civil, mechanical, infrastructure and non-infrastructure type work
2. Able to lead by example and develop their team's skills and experience
3. Confident dealing with stakeholders from different disciplines to establish complete commercial understanding
4. Champions sustainability, safety, health and environment by putting personal safety and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do and helping the environment and communities to thrive
5. Integrity by always doing the right thing in the right way
6. Customer focused by striving for excellence through understanding, anticipating and meeting their needs
Skills & Knowledge
1. Finance management - CVR's & financial reporting
2. Negotiating
3. Contract awareness - NEC3,4, ECC
4. Understanding of tendering & procurement processes
5. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a civil engineering environment
6. Experience of dispute resolution (desirable)
7. IT Microsoft Office skills - Evision, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Business Collaborator
8. Understanding of company computer-based cost recording systems
9. Full driving licence
Ideal Qualifications
1. Preferably degree educated in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
