Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
The role of the Nursing Associate is to work within a multi-professional team alongside registered nurses, Allied Health Professionals, associate practitioners, medical professionals, and healthcare support workers. It involves working collaboratively with Registered Nurses to assess, plan, organise, and deliver clinical care in line with the service pathways and as agreed with supervising clinician(s).
The Nursing Associate has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan, providing holistic and person-centred care and support for people of all ages and in a variety of settings. The Nursing Associate will help to bridge the gap between Healthcare Assistants and Registered Nurses by working independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within all aspects of the clinical process.
Nursing Associates are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes, and behaviours relevant to employment; will work to a nationally recognised Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct and must meet the NMC standards of proficiency.
Nursing Associates will provide effective evidence-based care for service users under the supervision of registered nurses in order to perform non-complex activities, in line with clinical governance and professional standards.
Main duties of the job
Nursing Associates will be recovery focused, have good risk assessment skills, and have a good range of therapeutic interventions supported by evidence-based practice.
Nursing Associates will use personal effectiveness and knowledge to contribute to the development and delivery of a high-quality, cost-effective service.
We recruit people based on their values and qualifications (where required) and believe that their lived experience is an advantage, this means that together we are as diverse as the communities we care for. Simply put, when we employ caring people who act with integrity and have the right skills, we can give those with mental health challenges, learning disabilities, and neurodiversity high-quality care and support to live fulfilling lives, and make our staff feel purposeful, happy, and valued.
