To provide efficient and effective premises support across the corporate estate, ensuring the security, general appearance of the buildings and all surrounding areas are maintained in accordance with the required standards.
The post-holder will be expected to observe safe working practices at all times and will be expected to have good communication skills to be able to use their own initiative to prioritise tasks and to assist with keeping accurate records linked to Health and Safety legislation.
About the role
Pay Details : Grade 4 £23,500 - £24,294 pa
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 2 shift pattern between wk 1 06:30 – 14:30 – wk 2 14:00 – 22:00 (Fri 12:00 – 20:00)
Term time 37hrs/week
Main Place of Work: Civic Offices
Temporary – FTC 1 year
1. To provide a physical Security presence, both internal and external, at Authority owned premises in order to deter theft, fire, damage/vandalism and intrusion.
2. To carry out regular patrols of premises, internal and external, during a shift and to monitor CCTV surveillance equipment (where installed), reporting any incidents in a timely manner to their Supervisor and Facilities Section.
3. To ensure that premises are opened/closed and alarm systems are set in accordance with instruction and false alarms/user error incidences are kept to a minimum.
4. To assist and monitor all visitors to the premises, including contractors, to ensure that they only access areas where they are permitted entry.
5. To be familiar with building equipment and plant, such as heating systems, to ensure that the premises are fully operational prior to general occupation.
6. To accurately record water temperatures as directly linked to Legionella Monitoring in the Site Log Books.
7. To arrange to clear blockages, remove foreign matter from sinks, toilets, drains and clean up spillages as required.
8. To ensure that gullies, drains etc., are kept free from debris and that the premises and grounds are litter free.
9. To ensure clear and safe pedestrian access to premises particularly in adverse weather conditions (e.g. clearing snow, gritting of access paths and roads, putting up warning signage, cordoning off hazardous areas).
About you
You will need:
10. A minimum of 3 years’ experience within the Security Industry or a security related discipline
11. Proven experience of working in a customer care driven environment
12. Detailed knowledge of the functions carried out within Building Services
13. Basic knowledge of all legislation that relates to the Security industry
14. Basic knowledge of conflict management and resolution
15. A good level of knowledge of electronic security management systems
16. Basic knowledge of, and familiarity with, building operations systems and plant i.e. heating systems
17. Good numeracy and literacy skills with the ability to draft concise and accurate reports
18. Excellent verbal skills including the ability to communicate with clarity with individuals at all levels
19. Be physically able to carry out manual and active labouring duties.
20. Be physically able to conduct regular foot patrols of premises, both internally/externally
21. A valid Security Industry Authority Licence (SIA)
22. Must be able to work on own initiative and undertake duties in an effective and efficient manner
23. Positive and self-motivated with the ability to be flexible and responsive to changes in priorities and demands
24. Ability to drive/travel throughout the Vale or between locations as appropriate
Prepared to work unsociable hours on a shift rotation basis (including weekends wherever applicable)
