We’re looking for a Senior Finance Technician to play an integral role in keeping our finance department running smoothly About the Role: As Senior Finance Technician, you’ll be working closely with our Head of Finance, offering essential support to keep everything ticking along. We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated, and ready to take on a variety of tasks with a positive attitude. Your attention to detail and accuracy will be key as you manage important responsibilities within the team. You'll also step up and take charge when the Head of Finance is unavailable, supporting the department with whatever is needed. You’ll be the first point of contact for internal queries and the go-to person for third-party stakeholders, so a friendly, professional approach is important. Key Responsibilities: Work alongside the Finance Technician and Finance Assistant to ensure the smooth running of the department, delegating tasks as needed to keep everything on track. Help the Head of Finance with key projects, ensuring everything is completed effectively and on time. Maintain the Sales, Purchase, and Nominal ledgers. Communicate with suppliers, both in the UK and overseas. Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports, ensuring the data is accurate using XRL, Opera, Excel, and Access. Support the preparation and publishing of monthly financial statements, journal entries, and reconciliation of financial data. Oversee daily bank reconciliations, ensuring everything matches up. Take ownership of preparing and submitting ONS returns. Assist with the Goods In process, including currency forecasting, costing, and processing purchase and freight invoices. Keep stock costings up-to-date and accurate. Offer training and support to other members of the finance team when needed. Take on other tasks and duties as required to support the team. Skills and Experience: AAT Level 4 would be great, but we’ll also consider you if you’re qualified by experience. Solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access. Knowledge of Payroll is a bonus. Experience in importing goods from overseas would be helpful. Comfortable using accounting software and handling administrative tasks. Strong communication skills with a friendly, approachable manner. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Team player with a positive attitude. Working Hours: We work 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, with some flexibility depending on the needs of the business.
