About the role Cambridgeshire Archives is part of the Council's Communities, Libraries and Skills Service and is dedicated to collecting, preserving and promoting the use of historical records of Cambridgeshire. This is a full-time, office-based role at Cambridgeshire Archives in Ely, working alongside two other Archive Assistants within a small, but busy team. For more information or to chat about this opportunity please contact Sue Sampson, Public Services Archivist Tel. 01223 699399 About you Ideally, you will have experience of working in archives, local studies or records management or, failing that, a genuine interest in local or family history and the ability to demonstrate an understanding of the role, nature and care of archives. This is a front-line, public-facing post so some experience of working with the public, or a passion for providing excellent customer care, is essential. You will possess a minimum of 5 GCSE's or equivalent, and good ICT skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills and a readiness to engage with customers are key to the role. You should enjoy working within a small team, communicating effectively with colleagues and offering support where necessary. This is a physically demanding role, involving the regular use of ladders and the handling and transportation of records of varying weights and dimensions.
