Residential Support Worker
Duration: Initially 3 months
Hours: 36 hours per week (shifts on an adhoc basis)
Rate: £23 umbrella an hour (£18 PAYE an hour)
Southwark Council are looking for a bank Residential Support Worker. You will be given shifts on an ad hoc basis, sometimes these will be more frequent, other times the shifts may be for 36 hours a week.
Responsibilities:
1. This post will be working as part of a team of in-house staff providing support at Short Breaks (respite) for adults with learning disabilities and autism.
2. To provide a person-centered, safe, caring, engaging and stimulating environment.
3. To ensure a person-centered approach is adopted to meet the identified needs of the individual in accordance with the individual support plans.
4. Provide personal care such as supporting people to wash, bathe, dress, with eating and attending to toileting needs in an empowering and respectful way.
5. To assist, when required, with domestic duties including cleaning, preparation of meals, kitchen duties and general home management.
Requirements:
1. Knowledge and understanding of people with learning disabilities, autism and behaviours of concern.
2. Knowledge of legislation and statutory guidance in relation to adults, safeguarding practice, mental capacity and deprivation of liberty legislation and best practice.
3. Knowledge of on-call procedures and regulatory requirements for reporting and escalating issues or concerns.
4. Experience of working with adults with learning difficulties within a residential environment, including experience of providing personal care and working with people who have behaviours of concern.
5. Experience of safeguarding.
