Flag Fen is designated as a scheduled ancient monument for its internally significant archaeology. Although not designated for nature, it provides important habitat for red listed species that thrive in the fen edge wetlands. Our vision for the future is to develop and implement a fenland restoration project that will not only help the site cope with the effects of environmental change and the gradual desiccation of the fens but also connect people to Flag Fen’s countryside through experiences that inspire, educate, and entertain, leading people to share and develop our vision. We want our visitors and stakeholders to ensure that Flag Fen is accessible for people of all ages to discover wildlife and connect with nature and the rich pre-historic discoveries that we are able to showcase.
As a conservation champion and lover of all things outdoors, you’ll help to care for and enhance the rare and protected habitat at Flag Fen. You will look after this archaeologically significant and rich landscape. Come rain or shine, your enthusiasm will inspire others as you strive to ensure that this landscape is safe and beautifully presented.
To become part of our dedicated team, you'll need to enjoy working with people, love the outdoors, and have a passion for nature conservation. We are a small team that has ambitions to work with many stakeholders from local landowners, community environmental groups, and activity providers. Our vision is to work on landscape-scale conservation; this requires us to build relationships and to work with numerous partners like the RSPB, Natural England, Anglian Water, the Environment Agency, and Historic England.
Weekend working is essential as this post will work every other weekend as a Duty Manager.
