Are you looking for an opportunity to lead on compassionate, high quality psychological care for older people and people with dementia in an established and valued team? If so, we are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Clinical or Counselling Psychologist for a permanent full time position working across our Older Adult inpatient wards. The post is funded via the new Time to Care initiative to expand upon the highly regarded work provided by our inpatient psychologist.
Our team bases are in Colchester and Clacton and serve the North East locality of the Trust. We are situated within an MSNAP accredited Specialist Dementia Service at The King's Wood Centre in Colchester. The service is staffed by a dedicated and compassionate multidisciplinary team and our ward in Clacton has achieved reaccreditation via the Gold Standard Framework for end of life care.
Main duties of the job
This is an excellent opportunity for those wanting to develop clinical leadership skills and further consolidate supervisory responsibilities, alongside working with clients both individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The role will involve a flexible combination of inpatient work spanning services for older adults both with and without dementia. It would suit a Psychologist interested in a varied post including psychological therapy, neuropsychological assessment, group work, carer support, and training of non-psychology colleagues.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will work alongside our inpatient Psychologist and be well supported by a team of four qualified Psychologists, two CAPs and two Assistant Psychologists who provide input across our Memory Assessment Service, Mild Cognitive Impairment pathway, and post-diagnostic Dementia Service. Supervision will be provided by a senior Psychologist and you will also benefit from access to the wider professional network of Clinical Psychologists within EPUT. Our team's CPD interests are diverse and include qualifications in neuropsychology, ACT, EMDR, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies.
Psychologists working in the Trust enjoy close academic and training links with the University of Essex Doctoral Training Course and CAP programme and provide regular placements for trainees. You will also benefit from access to the wider professional network in the Psychological Services Directorate with interests in CFT, DBT, systemic therapy, CAT and psychotherapy.
The post comes with opportunities for CPD related to career progression and service needs with up to £6K, calculated pro rata, available over three years.
