We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team of endoscopy schedulers working within our busy endoscopy booking office. If you are eager to learn, have a flexible approach to work and are reliable and enthusiastic, we would like to hear from you.
The role involves the booking of patients needing endoscopy in accordance with all Diagnostic, RTT and Cancer Targets.
You will be working as part of a friendly, welcoming and expert Multidisciplinary Endoscopy Team who are enthusiastic and encouraging in a happy working environment. Mentoring, training and guidance will be provided to the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will also work closely with both Medical and Nursing Staff within the department, who think of the Patient first and always uphold the Trusts values.
• To accurately register patient information onto appropriate IT systems and the Trust PAS System (Medway).
• To offer, negotiate and book Outpatient Appointments and elective daycase procedures adhering to Trust and Departmental procedures.
• Booking of interpreters for day case procedures/outpatient appointments.
• To register information onto Medway, search for existing records and ensure all patient demographics are accurate and up to date.
• To provide advice and guidance to patients with regard to medication and preparation prior to their procedure.
• To deal with anxious patients requiring tact and/or persuasive skills.
• To issue Outpatient Appointment and Elective TCI letters which will include relevant medication for bowel preparation.
• Informing the correct people/teams when booking patients with learning disabilities/MRSA or other Med Alerts.

• To track and retrieve referrals and associated records in a timely manner.
• To analyse waiting lists to enable planning of patient procedure dates ensuring that Diagnostic, RTT and Cancer Targets are met.
• To carry out general administration duties including filing, fax confirmations, Endoscribe Reports to GP’s and typing of Operation Lists as required.
• To sort incoming internal and external mail and endoscopy referrals.
• To ensure endoscopy requests are triaged appropriately and entered correctly onto Medway in a timely manner.
• To provide cross cover within the team to meet the needs of the service as directed by the Scheduling Manager.
• To deal with enquiries including liaison with patients and team members within the Treatment Centre, including Consultants and Endoscopists, to agree appointments for complex examinations to ensure efficient use of services.
• To plan and organise own workload under the guidance of the Scheduling Manager and Department SOP’s.
• · To liaise regularly with the Scheduling Manager with regard to workload and escalate any capacity issue within agreed timescales.
• · To co-operate in the implementation of directorate/departmental policies.
• To conform to the Data Protection Act for personal information held on computerised systems.
• To assist in the induction of clerical staff within the team, providing knowledge of patient administration and appointment/daycase booking procedures.
• To take an active part in learning opportunities and maintain their own Personal Development and Mandatory Training requirements.
