Glasgow Caledonian – the largest and leading modern university in Scotland - is a vibrant, values-led university with campuses in the heart of Glasgow and London. With a strong commitment to high quality education and research which supports the communities we serve, we have strong partnerships with employers to ensure our students get the careers they dream of and deserve.
This post is for a Lecturer in Digital Media, full-time for two years. We are seeking candidates who can bring academic research or industry experience appropriate to digital media to contribute to teaching and research across our growing department. GCU is one of the leading educators of work-ready media professionals, with graduates working across industry in many varied roles and sectors. We are interested in hearing from candidates who can teach core issues in media that bring relevant understanding of the significance of the digitalization and platformization of media and its agency in rapidly changing socio-economic and cultural contexts.
Ideally, candidates will be able to demonstrate the capacity for educational leadership and applied settings for digital media in industry alongside some higher education teaching experience. Candidates should be prepared to contribute to a wide range of core media modules from undergraduate to postgraduate programmes.
If you would like to discuss this role, please contact the Head of Department, Professor Simon McKerrell for an informal discussion: simon.mckerrell@gcu.ac.uk.
As the University for the Common Good, we are committed to embedding equality, diversity and inclusion, as well as our values in everything that we do. As such, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who demonstrate the GCU Values.
Please note that the appointment will be made on the first point of the salary scale (unless by exception).
