Commercial / Corporate / Finance Lawyer (1088)
Within our highly respected Corporate team we have a particular expertise in the rail industry. We work with some of the UK's largest rail operators on significant multi million pound and billion pound deals. The team is based in Newcastle. This role represents an exciting and rare opportunity to join the team where you will be rewarded with a competitive salary.
What will you be doing?
You will join an experienced, high performing and committed team that has an excellent reputation (with clients, colleagues and legal directories) and a strong team ethos. You will work on a diverse range of matters focused around strategic and high profile rail contracts for major clients, including rail concessions, rolling stock procurement and rail infrastructure projects. The work is varied and includes an opportunity for international work and to become immersed in a key sector.
What does the ideal candidate look like?
We're interested in seeing applications from lawyers with at least around one year's post qualification experience in either corporate, finance or commercial law, gained at a City or large regional firm. A background in rail would be of interest, but is not required.
Whatever your experience level, you'll need excellent drafting skills, a sense of commercial pragmatism, a bright mind and a strong team ethos to help further develop the team's client base.
To be successful in this role you'll need as a minimum:
* 1 - 4 years post qualification experience as a UK (England, Wales or Scotland) Solicitor.
* Experience of good quality corporate, commercial or finance work gained from a city or large regional firm (or equivalent in-house experience). Rail experience is not required.
* Proven black-letter drafting skills and analytical skills to assess complex financial situations and develop strategic solutions.
* The ability to deliver complex advice in a coherent and practical way that is easy for non-lawyers to understand.
