Role Overview
As a Senior HSE Specialist, you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing our site safety culture, ensuring compliance with HSE standards, and focusing on continuous improvement. This position requires a proactive, autonomous individual who is driven to succeed and always looking for ways to improve HSE practices. This role reports to the HSE Director – OSEA working primarily at the Liverpool site (full-time on-site) with monthly visits to Dee Why. You will remotely support the OSEA region including Auckland, Christchurch, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, and Indonesia.
Key Responsibilities
1. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
1. Complete monthly and annual reporting requirements.
2. Develop and implement compliance programs and policies.
3. Prepare and present at the Oceania Strategic Safety Committee meetings.
4. Conduct site HSE inspections and audits.
5. Assist in developing the Oceania HSE Management System to meet ISO standards.
6. Administer CHEMWATCH and support training needs analysis.
7. Maintain toolbox talk calendar and content.
8. Communicate with government regulators and ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
2. HSE Compliance, Oceania:
1. Ensure compliance with the compliance register.
2. Complete regulator reporting and training facilitation.
3. Stay updated on new regulations and industry trends.
4. Investigate and ensure compliance with new or changing legislative requirements.
3. Cost, Efficiency, and Sustainability:
1. Monitor HSE initiatives spending and conduct cost reduction activities.
4. Employee Engagement:
1. Support HSE programs to build a safety engagement culture.
2. Interact with frontline operators and managers to determine development priorities.
3. Ensure compliance with internal policies and legal requirements.
Requirements
1. Skills and Competencies:
1. Strong operational, problem-solving, process management, and communication skills.
2. Ability to work as part of a team and lead with purpose.
3. Resilience, stress tolerance, and the ability to influence and persuade.
4. Planning and organizing skills.
2. Experience:
1. Minimum 4 years in a similar role.
2. Exposure to manufacturing, engineering, or operations environments.
3. Knowledge of HSE legislation and management systems.
3. Qualifications:
1. Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS.
2. Certificate IV in Training & Workplace Assessment or equivalent.
3. ISO45001 and ISO14001 Auditing qualification.
