The Role : An opportunity for Emergency Medicine RMO’s / Registrars / Senior Registrars to join an energetic, forward-thinking team in a department full of broad clinical experiences.
You will be joining an exceptional Emergency Medicine team supporting a regional community. The Department : The Emergency Department (ED) is a well-equipped, 43-bed unit that opened in 2012, with an annual attendance of 45,000, a 30-40% admission rate, and approximately 20% paediatric caseload. As the referral hospital for northern Tasmania, with no bypass, our registrars experience high acuity and clinical diversity. The hospital has all major specialties, including a fully supported ICU with ECMO capability and 24-hour cardiac interventional angiography. Consultants provide direct supervision from 8:00 am to midnight, seven days a week, with an on-call service outside these hours.
Training : We offer close mentorship, with FACEM group members sharing expertise in ultrasound, paediatrics, retrieval, disaster medicine, international EM, wellness, simulation, and medical leadership. The ED has ACEM accreditation for 24 months of Emergency Training, including paediatric logbook accreditation.
* Primary and fellowship exam preparation programs, with 2 consultants on the ACEM Board of Examiners. Opportunities include ED special skill ultrasound training, a 6-month anaesthetics rotation, and potential medical specialty rotations.
* Registrars receive 5 hours of paid, protected teaching weekly, tailored to all stages of emergency registrar training. These include monthly paediatric teaching and sessions in our new simulation centre.
