Our client is seeking a Traffic Engineer on an initial 3 Month contract with the possibility of an extension. Start Date: ASAP Pay Rate: £31.80 Per Hour PAYE Location: SM4 5DX Working Hours: 36 Hours Per Week, 09:00 - 17:00. Job Purpose: To undertake allocated projects, tasks and functions appropriate to Traffic, Parking, Transport and Highway Services from start (feasibility, design, CAD drawing, reports) to completion (raise orders, contractor supervision and payment of invoices) to meet the targets and quality standards required by legislations, TfL and the Council Key Responsibilities Undertake end-to-end delivery of traffic and transport-related projects including feasibility studies, scheme design, CAD drawings, consultation, and reporting. Raise and process work orders, supervise contractors on site, and manage invoicing and payments upon project completion. Ensure all projects meet agreed targets, timescales, budgets, and quality standards. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, TfL standards, and internal council policies and procedures. Prepare and present technical reports, updates, and recommendations to senior officers and stakeholders. Monitor the performance of contractors and consultants, and report any non-compliance or performance issues. Engage with the public, councillors, and stakeholders during consultation processes. Contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery within the team. Essential Skills & Experience Experience in traffic, transport, or highway engineering, preferably in a local authority setting. Strong technical knowledge of transport and traffic engineering principles, standards, and regulations. To assist in the compilation, monitoring and management of budgets for projects, programmes of works, tasks and functions undertaken by the Traffic and Highway Services Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant design software. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously from inception to completion. Strong communication and report-writing skills. Familiarity with procurement, raising orders, and invoice processing. Understanding of working with contractors and on-site supervision. Knowledge of relevant legislation, design standards, and TfL/Council policies. Desirable Relevant degree or professional qualification in Civil Engineering, Transportation, or a related field. Working towards or holding membership of a professional body such as CIHT, ICE, or IHE.
