Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Team Leader to guide and support our staff in delivering exceptional care within one of our children’s residential homes. This role involves hands-on care, staff supervision, and adherence to the highest safeguarding standards. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, the ability to create a positive team culture, and a commitment to helping young people achieve their best outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership: Provide clear guidance, support, and supervision to a team of residential care workers, fostering a supportive and motivated work environment.
2. Young Person-Focused Care: Ensure that young people receive high-quality, personalised care that promotes their emotional, social, and developmental growth.
3. Safeguarding and Compliance: Oversee all safeguarding protocols, ensuring adherence to organisational and regulatory policies, including those set by Ofsted.
4. Case Management: Work closely with staff to develop, implement, and review care plans and risk assessments for each young person.
5. Training and Development: Support the professional growth of team members through supervision, training, and continuous development opportunities.
6. Crisis Management: Manage incidents and challenging behaviours calmly and effectively, ensuring the safety and well-being of young people and staff.
7. Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
Essential Requirements
1. Qualifications: Minimum Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care (or equivalent).
2. Experience: Minimum of 2 years working in children’s residential care, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
Skills
Essential:
1. A passion for working with children and young people, particularly those with SEMH needs.
2. Empathy, patience, and resilience in handling complex behaviours.
3. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with both children and colleagues.
4. Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
5. Strong teamwork skills with a proactive and reliable attitude.
6. Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
7. Ability to remain calm under pressure.
8. Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
9. Knowledge of safeguarding, trauma-informed care, therapeutic approach / practice and behaviour management.
Other Requirements:
1. Valid UK driving licence. (Desirable)
2. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call as needed.
3. Enhanced DBS check (we will conduct this if successful).
