Brighton College is looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivational graduates from September 2025 who will be able to assist with both the academic and co-curricular provision in our busy and vibrant department.
The successful candidates will be flexible in their approach, passionate about the subject and work across a variety of musical styles and activities. Candidates of all music specialisms are encouraged to apply as, to a certain extent, the role can be tailored to a candidate’s individual skills and future aspirations.
Brighton College has a strong musical tradition. The department consists of three members of academic staff, three Heads of Instrumental Sections, two department administrators and over 35 visiting music teachers. Our post graduate assistant teachers always play an integral role in the department. They are team players and advanced performers who provide support and coaching for our exceptional young musicians.
Our department embodies a joyful approach to music, and much of the co-curricular life of the department feeds into the academic programme. Year 7 and 8 pupils have two music lessons per week and Year 9 pupils have the option to study music, feeding into the GCSE course. Music is a popular subject at both GCSE and A-level and results in recent years have been outstanding with 100% 9-8 grades at GCSE and 100% A*-A grades at A-level.
