London Drylining Ltd. is a construction company specialized in Internal Partitioning and External Faades We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Estimator to join our growing pre construction team. Previous experience in estimating / surveying is not necessarily required. You will have full training support on how to use various programs such Quick Measure, ClaimPro and Lyte Procure. In this role you will be working on tenders for works, responsible for successfully pricing and securing new contracts for the business to deliver. A successful 90 days trial period will be required prior to signing the full time contract. Working hours - Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm This role would suit a Junior Quantity Surveyor looking to join a company offering training and progression into Senior roles, while working in a tight knit team on exciting projects for major clients. As a Trainee Estimator your duties & responsibilities will be: Understanding the contents of the tender documentation (tender timescales, expected submission documents/responses, contract information, project scope, site & works information) Project risk identification Assisting the bids manager in the preparation of the kick off meeting and bids programme Working with procurement and commercial departments to prepare supply chain request for quotation information packs Ensuring the project solution is understood as it is built up during the tender phase, and challenging it where necessary Analysis of supply chain quotations, benchmarking of project costs and testing of proposed productivity rates Preparation of the tender price in Microsoft Excel / Quick Measure using supply chain quotations and applying internal plant and people rates to programmes of work / activity schedules Prepare for and chair tender price review meetings with senior management and other internal stakeholders Prepare the client pricing documents for submission (including required risk / contractual information) Where required, assist in the preparation and delivery of post-submission presentations to the client and/or attend negotiation meetings Save, document and organise important tender pricing communications/information as per the tender folder structure Establish and maintain professional/effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders Prepare and chair pricing handover meetings on successful bids Identify, communicate and implement ideas for continual improvement within the tender process Work within company policies and procedures Carry out any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and client requirements Skills & Knowledge Requirements Mathematical competence Good Microsoft Excel skills Competent in other standard Microsoft software Confident in written and verbal communication with internal/external stakeholders including with senior roles Basic understanding of contractual terminology Mathematics and English GCSE/A Level or equivalent Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines Flexibility in terms of working hours Ability to read and understand engineering specifications and drawings Basic understanding of engineering/construction technology and terminology
